EPISODE 8: LA DESESCALADA
Today we are going to talk about La Desescalada –
literally, the De-escalation.
Part 2.
Today, April
30th, this is what everyone in Spain is talking about; the lifting
of the lockdown. La desescalada means the process by which life will slowly
return to what Pedro Sanchez, the Spanish Prime Minister calls, “la nueva
normalidad” – the new normal.
Today, we
have the pleasure of listening to a native Spanish speaker reading our news story,

La
lucha contra el coronavirus se acerca a una nueva fase. Ahora, el Gobierno
afronta la desescalada, una etapa de
transición sobre la que aún hay más preguntas que respuestas.
Aunque España planea una vuelta lenta a la
normalidad, el ministro de Sanidad, Salvador Illa, ha enfatizado que
"España sigue en un momento duro".
Illa dice que la clave es "analizar cada paso antes de dar el siguiente".
Hay cuatro pilares en el plan para reabrir la sociedad española.
1.Un "desconfinamiento secuencial" según
el cual los primeros en hacer vida normal serían las
personas más jóvenes y sanas, a las que
habría que monitorizar mientras la población de riesgo permanece todavía en
casa.
2. La evaluación de la inmunidad de
la población mediante una "prueba rápida serológica" para medir los
anticuerpos. El gobierno sugiere habilitar múltiples puntos de control donde el
ciudadano pueda acceder en coche o a pie y recibir un "certificado de
inmunidad" si ha pasado la infección.
3. La detección precoz de nuevos casos y
el seguimiento de sus contactos para detectar los posibles focos de infección
será imprescindible.
4. Medidas de confinamiento focalizadas en
zonas calientes, lo cual incluiría confinamientos parciales en zonas
geográficas concretas, en caso de surgir un brote preocupante.
